Assisted Living Facility with Memory Care – Reader Question

 In In-Home Services

Looking for assisted living facility for my Dad who needs memory care…

reader recently emailed a question: “Looking for assisted living facility for my Dad who needs memory care. Can you advise?”

I learned that Dad can no longer safely remain in his home and neither she nor her brother can afford to quit working to care for him full time. I explained some of the differences between Assisted Living and Memory Care and also referred her to the local office of the Alzheimer’s Association* where they can determine Dad’s level of function and learn about what to expect in the future. I also suggested Kootenai Health’s Senior Care Program** so Dad can be social (which Dad likes) and provide them with daytime peace of mind while they review their options for Dad’s longer term care.
